Hmmm, fun! I thought I recognized the corner, I used to live there… No wait that’s not where St. Mary’s goes… You’ve improved on Sydenham Ward and captured the essence. I love this playful approach Sally.

Fab painting, reminds me of late evenings playing as a kid, the landscape becomes darker but the sky remains faintly light.

Hi Sheila,
Yes you are right it is so much more fun to use the reference to begin, but then to take it in your own direction and make something new from it. It’s where I’m going to put my energies these days.
Thanks for your good wishes for the show. It’s nice to get a little ‘window time’ in a place where they will be seen and viewed more often.

Sally, a really interesting process isn’t it to take an old photo and use it as you say as a “jumping off” point. For me it gives excitement and takes some of the tedium away. I can see in these last two paintings how your interest has been sustained. Lovely palette too. Good luck with the show. It’s nice to see our work framed up and hanging isn’t it.
