Hydrangeas On the Water acrylic painting

Summer on the Water with Hydrangeas’ – acrylic on canvas – 30″x30″inch

Having another go with acrylics and finding my way with them., this time a larger scale and a different support…canvas instead of board. I had fun with the subtle delicate petals in shadow.  Hydrangeas are another of my favourite flowers(i have so many) they are such show-offs, but have a gentle precence too…speaking of hydrangeas, i planted 3 different varieties last fall in my beds, i’m really hoping that they will survive the winter with all the up and down fluctuations of temps we’ve had this slightly crazy season.    I like the speed of drying for this medium, allows so much freedom.

I’m off to the Artist Project in Toronto on Friday. Really looking forward to it, I’ve never been before; it’s quite a contemporary show… i have several art friends who are showing in it, Janice Colbert, (Janice sent me a complimentary ticket) and Tammy Shane to name two.  I’m making an afternoon/evening of it, and will stay overnight and head back the next day with my daughter Jane.  woopee! art and daughter time – the best!

About Sally Chupick

The way light falls on form, that's what interests me. It effects not only what we see but how we feel about things. The challenge is finding a harmony in the complexity of it; mixing what I see and what I want to see to create my paintings. I work in oils and in watercolours.
