Sauvignon Blanc

‘Sauvignon Blanc’ – oil on canvas – 16″x16″   I was conscious of the cool light while working on this painting despite the sun filtering through the vines.  The cool light kisses the grapes and the resulting shadowed areas took on quite warm tones. When we were in Italy i recall noticing how (cerelean)blue the grape vines looked growing up the vinyards near where we stayed, i suppose that was because we were there in June, the month of lush-ness and growth…probably had i seen them in August they would have shown a more golden colour.
I started this painting in January, but just got around to finishing it today.

About Sally Chupick

The way light falls on form, that's what interests me. It effects not only what we see but how we feel about things. The challenge is finding a harmony in the complexity of it; mixing what I see and what I want to see to create my paintings. I work in oils and in watercolours.

Yum. I love this — the green is so lovely, and love the post too.
I agree — it was worth waiting for. Your grapes are beautiful,
and the thought of seeing them in Italy — incredibly romantic
and fine — an escape on a day of snow, rain and strange weather.

    XO Barbara
