Hay Day - oil on canvas - 36″ x 40″
I’ve been working away on this painting for a few weeks…it’s been through many morphosis before it has arrived at what it is now…for a while I thought it was going to be abstract, but alas it was not saying what I wanted it to in that state….i think this is more like my original idea…it was an intriguing one, pulling it from my mind and my sketches.

Out to Dry - oil on canvas - 12″ x 9″
Well I hung out the clothes and was enjoying the morning, then I thought that the laundry was sort of interesting dancing away on the line in the breeze…sooooooooo…out came my paint box…I only painted the towels and t-shirts, decided to omit the undies on the line!

Conservation Pond - oil on canvas - 9″ x 12″
Gotta love these glory days of summer with pristinely beautiful evenings and mornings perfect for the plein air sleuth! I have to admit though i am a bit of a ‘fair weather’ friend, i only go outdoors painting when the weather really suits me. This little painting was done on one of those perfect July evenings at the local conservation area where I was the only one around with the dragon flies and the geese, oh yes and did I mention the deer flies? They kept the evening hopping, litterally while I swatted them while trying to finish my painting.

Morning Tea, Angelina’s - oil on canvas - 16 x 20″
I had the day off today and worked on a large oil painting in my studio, it’s not finished just yet but it is coming together. I was not able to complete it to take a picture to post on my blog, so I have dug into my archives of old work. I find it’s interesting to do this and find paintings I did some years ago. This one was painted in Australia in 2001. It’s evident to me, how my painting has evolved…but it brings back lovely memories of painting it. It was my favorite cafe in the little village where we lived, it had a great view across the street to Point Lonsdale front beach where you could sip a cappacino & watch the beach-combers and families playing in the sand. Point Lonsdale is at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay and is famous for it’s treacherous rip tides.
