Street In Kingston - watercolour - 15″ x 11″
I”ve not had a chance to post much on my blog lately. I haven’t painted as much these past 2 weeks. I was doing a bit of plein air oils and also an oil portrait, then yesterday I felt like a lighthearted fling with my watercolour box again. This is the little scene I painted. It might yet get a figure or som birds or something to add a bit of life, but as yet I’m not sure so will leave it for now then think about it some more later.

Rome, Back Street - oil on canvas - 16″ x 20″
Poking around the old antique shops in Rome a few years ago, my friend Jane and I came upon this scene as we passed a small back street. We stopped in our tracks at the sight of this huge climbing plant highlighted by the morning sun, which scaled at least 3 stories. Of course I took a picture, so did Jane to remember it by. Painting it brought back memories of that morning.

By the Apple Tree- oil on canvas - 10″ x 8″This is the second plein air painting I did the same day, on May 24. Oh my goodness I just love being out there painting in the spring air with the birds chirping and the insects buzzing…life is grand. The first painting I did got the old’ wipe out back in the studio!…at least I can use the canvas again for another go!
